Every day we hear of colleagues who suffer illnesses most likely brought on by stress. I learned very late in my 39 years of federal service just how important it is to focus on my own wellness before taking care of others.

I was raised in the Air Force and graduated from high school in Spain. I've had my own career as an Air Force civilian and continued my journey of discovery, embracing and appreciating every person, city and country. I owe my zest for life to my amazing experiences and want to share this goodness with as many people as I can!
I have two amazing daughters and four precious grandchildren. My youngest proudly serves our country in the Air Force Reserves, and my oldest owns a very successful music conservatory.
I am most proud of raising remarkable women and great mothers!
With the goodness of a wonderful but atypical childhood, I learned to 'just do it' and persevere until my goals were met. I don't think I ever stopped to smell the roses and only noticed they were there when I poked a thorn and bled. My entire life was like that, and I was on autopilot for 30 years.
After hitting a wall, while leading at a high level, I reached out to a colleague who had become a life coach. She literally saved my career because I was ready to walk away just one year shy of my retirement. Without her, I would have given up and not recognized my talents and strengths. Unlike therapy, she didn't give me the answers, she led me to discover my own answers. It was abundantly clear that I lacked mind, body and spirit balance! Once I found the meaning of that - for me - I was good to go!
I want to do that for others!
I started out in federal service as a secretary and was grateful for every position and every leader I encountered. Ten years into my career, I finally finished my bachelor's degree and started working in a Military Family Center where my coaching skills began. I coached military and family members on life events including career, transition, finance, life skills, relationships, and more. After earning my first master's degree, I started leading Family Centers and several other organizations. In 2015, I was asked to lead an office at the Pentagon, and this is where the rubber meets the road - in all things Air Force and professional growth. This was the beginning of learning the necessity of holistic wellness while leading, and what I have focused on since! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to lead hundreds of people over the past forty years, but it's only been in the last five that I've learned to lead while taking care of myself first.
